About CSA
Sustainability education
Its founder, Ross Scholes, after years of hands-on experience as a Pacific-based development consultant, became sceptical about the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particular in regard to the question of sustainability. Exploring the issues further he found a strong divergence between the underlying agenda, the cover-story, and the realities of natural systems.
Sustainability, what is it? Pursuing a definition on his own he discovered it had a core logic, a universal template for what will survive and what will fail. From that he came up with a scientific definition, a set of principles, and basic tools for inspecting sustainability. From that arose a recognition that the same core logic also applies to many other aspects of life: morality, freedom, politics, education… and so on.
The present focus of CSA is on seeding sustainable Land-Food-People systems in New Zealand and the Pacific. We hope to soon have on-site course facilities in different places, for more practical training than a website can offer. For more, visit the Landbase Project.
